Not sure what size to order? Use this guide, then measure your space before you buy.
How to measure
- Measure the length and width of your room and the area you want the rug to define.
- Leave roughly 8–18 inches of bare floor between the rug edge and the walls.
- Tape out the rug's footprint on the floor to preview it before ordering.
By room
- Living room: aim to fit the front legs of all seating on the rug — 8×10 or 9×12 suits most spaces.
- Under a bed: 8×10 for a queen, 9×12 for a king, so the rug extends 18–24" past the sides.
- Dining room: the rug should sit at least 24" beyond the table on every side so chairs stay on when pulled out.
- Hallway / entry: a runner with about 4" of floor showing on each side.
- Kitchen: a runner at the sink, or a low-pile 3×5 for a soft landing.
Common sizes
- 2.5×6 (runner) · 3×5 · 4×6 · 5×8 · 8×10 · 9×12
